World Heart Day - Power Your Life

World Heart Day on 29 September is the World Heart Federation’s biggest platform for raising awareness about cardiovascular disease (CVD). CVD is the leading cause of death globally; claiming over 17 million lives each year. However, at least 80% of premature deaths from CVD could be avoided. Heart is the heart of your health. And it’s easy to give it the care it deserves. Just a few simple steps such as eating more healthily, cutting down on alcohol and stopping smoking can improve your heart health and your overall well-being.

Every year more and more people show their support for World Heart Day by organizing their own heart healthy activities and events. School Of Physiotherapy, RK University has also supported collaboration with Olympus Hospital, Rajkot by arranging various events on 29th September, 2016. Based on the theme of “Power your Life” Dr. Mihir Tanna

(MD, DNB cardio) Olympus Hospital, Rajkot had delivered speech on different diagnostic methods and management of cardiac disorders at School of Physiotherapy, RK University. Along with it health check up camps at School of Physiotherapy, RK University and at various Primary Health Centers(Gadhka) Swaminarayan Hospital(Sardhar) were organized, in the camp Blood Pressure, BMI, Blood Glucose level were measured and dietary advices were given for the healthy life. As the purpose of the camps was to make people aware about their cardiac health, more than 200 individuals have taken avail benefits of the camp. Mr. Khodidasbhai Patel, Chairman, Prof. Ranjit Goswami, Vice Chancellor, RK University appreciated the effort of faculties and students of School of Physiotherapy for their contribution to the society.
