WORLD DISABILITY DAY

School of Physiotherapy (SOPT), RK University celebrates World Disability Day every year to spread awareness about impairments, functional limitations and participation restrictions among healthy as well as high risk individuals. The theme for 2016 was: Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want, which draws attention to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and how these goals can create a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities.

Disability is an umbrella term. It is a complex phenomenon, reflecting the interaction between features of a person’s body and features of the society in which he or she lives.According to WHO survey over 1 Billion people globally experience disability.

The World Disability Day usually gets celebrated on 3rd, Dec is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. Promotion of the “World Disability Day” by educational and research institute like RK University is the one of the national as well as social responsibility.

Dr. Hiral Panchasara, Assistant Professor, SOPT has given key note address and conducted Quiz competition for students. Total five teams participated in contest.

There were total four rounds which includes

  1.  Spotting round
  2.  Pass on round
  3.  Rapid fire round
  4.  Hot pot round


Juries for this competition were Dr. Ankur Khant and Dr. Sarfaraz Alam. The winners of the competition were Team-B (Vasani Shweta, Pokar Kajal, Patel Vidhi), who stood first and the second place went to Team-A (Ajani Khushali, Popat Pooja, Pithwa urvi).Vote of Thanks was given by Dr. Ankur Khant, for this successful event.
