Summary Report on “Physiotherapy Camp organised for

Differently Able” by Students and Faculty of School of

Physiotherapy, RKU @ Shri Ashirvad Viklang Center, Sayla

on 26th& 27th November, 2016

Students and Faculty of School of Physiotherapy, RK University, Rajkot participated in Disability Support Physiotherapy Camp organized by Lions Club of Shivaji Park, Mumbai and Shri Raj Saubhag Ashram, Sayla at Shri Ashirvad Viklang Center, Sayla, Surendranagar, Gujarat on 26th and 27th Nov,2016.

In divine presence of Pujaya Bhai Shri, a Physiotherapy camp was inaugurated by Dr. Saroj Sanghavi, Mr.Jadav bhai at Shri Ashrivad Viklang Center, Sayla.

More than 500 patients from various rural areas of Chotila to Limdi (65) districts had availed an advantage of the free physiotherapy camp. Large number of patients with various Physical and Functional Disabilities from musculoskeletal and neuromuscular system like Degenerative joint disease, Mechanical Back pain, Neck pain, inflammatory arthritis and also patients with urinary disorders like Incontinence had participated.

In the camp, patients availed free physiotherapy consultation, diagnosis, and treatment as well. Patients with moderate to severe disability were provided free orthosis like Cervical Collar, Lumbosacral belt and Knee Cap to improve activities of daily livings (ADLs). Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation was aimed to improve Quality of Care (QOC) and Quality of Life (QOL) of patients who are abundantly lacking with Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR).

Counselling session was mainly emphasized on Health Education, Health Promotion, Hygiene and Ergonomic Advises besides life style modification for every patient. SOPT team had also provided treatment program for needy patients at Physiotherapy Department of Ashirvad Viklang Centre, Sayla.

Students had an opportunity to learn and experience the principles of CBR for disables during the camp and interact with Mr. Jadavbhai, Director, Ashirvad Viklang Centre, Sayla.

Dr. Priyanshu Rathod, Director, School of Physiotherapy has thanked members of Lions Club of Shivaji Park, Mumbai and Shri Raj Saubhag Ashram, Sayla for providing an opportunity for students to serve physically disabled and thereby serve humanity.

Students had an opportunity to get trained under senior and leading clinical physiotherapist Dr. Saroj Sanghavi, Lions club of Shivaji Park, Mumbai during the camp. With the Team work of faculty and students of School of physiotherapy RK University, has taken one more step towards healthy community.
