CELEBRATION OF WORLD PARKINSON’S DAY BY PARKINSON DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP (PDSG)

On the occasion of the World Parkinson’s Awareness Day the meet of “Parkinson Disease Support Group (PDSG)” managed by School of Physiotherapy, RK University (RKU) organized on 11th March, 2016, between 4.00 to 6.00 pm at RK Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Research Centre, Bhaktinagar Circle, Rajkot. The celebration of World Parkinson’s Day was started by inauguration and welcome speech to all the members and few new members of the group by Dr. Priyanshu Rathod Director, School Of Physiotherapy, RKU. He had also said about the aim of Parkinson’s Awareness Day as it is celebrated to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease, promoting a greater understanding of this condition and how it can affect a person.

Various enthralling tasks like Audio video story telling, Color identification and separation, making the tower of glass, Stepping on numbers, Upper extremity Myotome dance, Pick walk drop, Relaxation stretching, Musical Chair to improve cognition and perception, enhance coordination in daily routine activities, avoid fatigue after any task, improve concentration while doing any work.

The students of 8th semester BPT Ms. Jeni Thakker, Ms. Zainab Bharmal, Mr. Keneth Parmar, Mr. Pragnesh Parmar, Ms. Nikita Patel, Ms. Swati Dhrangu, Ms. Hiral Dholariya, Ms. Jalpa Kakadiya, Ms. Dipali Der, Ms. Krupali, Ms. Foram Gohil, Mr. Sohil Shah, Mr. Sandip Mavani had contributed in this successful celebration of The World Parkinson’s Day.

All the members of the group appreciated the effort of students of SOPT RK. University for organizing such events and celebration of world Parkinson’s awareness Day.
