World Obesity Day - 2024

On the occasion of Obesity Day, School of Physiotherapy at RK University organized two impactful events aimed at raising awareness about obesity and its implications, particularly focusing on women's health.
Expert Talk on "Obesity and Women's Health"
An expert talk was organized for the female faculties of RKU. Renowned Gynaecologist Dr. Mital Jadav (Gynacologist at Sankalp Maternity Home, Rajkot.)
She enlightened the audience with an insightful discussion on the intricate relationship between obesity and women's health. The talk delved into various aspects, including the physiological, psychological, and social ramifications of obesity on women.
Dr. Mital Jadav shed light on the heightened health risks associated with obesity in women, such as reproductive health issues, hormonal imbalances, increased susceptibility to chronic diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular disorders, and complications during pregnancy. Furthermore, the talk emphasized the importance of adopting a holistic approach to combat obesity, encompassing dietary modifications, regular physical activity, and stress management techniques.
The event commenced at 02.00 PM and concluded at 03:00 PM, providing an hour-long session packed with informative discussions and interactions
Free Obesity Evaluation and Awareness Camp:
The another event of the day was a Free Obesity Evaluation and Awareness Camp open to all members of the RKU faculties and students. This initiative aimed to provide individuals with an opportunity to assess their current health status and gain insights into the risks associated with obesity.
All the participants underwent comprehensive health assessments, including BMI calculations, muscle mass, fat mass, body age and many more parameters and personalized consultations with healthcare professionals. Additionally, informational booths were set up to disseminate educational materials on obesity prevention, healthy eating habits, and the importance of regular physical activity.
